I take you as someone who has never once taken a serious look at the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the issues, parties, and history involved. That is the nicest explanation I can conjure up for such astounding ignorance.

Im Jewish an im disgusted in these hard core ultra othodox jews who want things the way they where in King Davids time. Hell with Israel now, the goverment there is just as bad a Hamas, Al quada and the rest of them NO DIFFERENCE,, they both radical they both kill children.. Im also from South Africa and yes, Israel reminds me of an aparthied state now..

Interesting point, but you leave out one obvious alternative - perhaps the media just didn't care as much about John Edwards.

The Edwards pick was, at the time, the standard Democratic pick: a "moderate" southern white guy, meant to appeal to red state voters (see how THAT worked out!). Also, Edwards was a somewhat familiar name, as he had already run for president that year in the Democratic primaries.

On the other hand, the Palin pick was completely off the wall. About 99% of the country had never heard of her, she governed the second most remote state after Hawaii, and she was about as anti-establishment as you can get. Palin got more stories, and therefore more negative ones as well, just because she made for a more interesting story.
