Joe Biden to Larry King: Iraq could be "one of the great achievements of this administration."

February 11th, 2010

Oh rlly?

How could I forget Obama's defiant stand against his own Defense Department in support of the Iraq Surge? Because it never happened.

The defiant stand in support of the Iraq Surge was actually made by President Bush--you know, the punching bag of the Obama administration.

What was Obama and Biden saying when Bush was pushing the surge?

Well, Obama was opposing it and Biden was pushing his own plan to split Iraq up into a three state federation.

It seems like Obama/Biden want to blame Bush for everything that is wrong in America and take credit for all that is right. There may be ambiguities, but Iraq is not one of them. If Iraq turns out alright--and that still remains an if--then GWB and the United States military are going to get the lion's share of the credit for that.

Joseph Farah, Liar

February 7th, 2010

World Net Daily editor Joseph Farah gave a speech at the Tea Party convention in Nashville on Friday. Unsurprisingly, Farah promoted the asinine Obama Birther conspiracy theory in his speech.

"Where's the birth certificate?" Farah asked the audience. "It's a simple question and it has not been answered."

Questioning Obama’s citizenship and thus his eligibility to be president has been an ongoing obsession of Farah’s “news” site World Net Daily.

The Washington Independent’s David Weigel reported that BigGovernment.com’s Andrew Breitbart got into an argument with Farah over the utter stupidity of his Birther obsession.

After arguing absurdly and insidiously that he is just posing an important question for the president to answer, and even more insanely that Birtherism is a winning issue for Republicans, Farah declared that he has made sacrifices in pursuit of the truth.

“Do you think this has made my life easier, doing this?” Farah reportedly asked. “I used to be on TV all the time. I haven’t been on Fox News once since I started talking about this.”

Really?

Well, it is appears true that Farah hasn’t been on Fox News since he and World Net Daily became among the leading advocates of the Birther conspiracy. But according to a LexisNexis search, since November 2004, Farah has only been on Fox News three times and CNN one time. The Birther conspiracy only really picked up steam in 2008.

In other words, while it is true Farah hasn’t been on Fox News since he started promoting the Birther conspiracy, it is also true he didn’t “used to be on TV all the time.” He hadn’t made a major TV appearance, as far as I can tell, for just about a year before the Birther conspiracy theory even became an issue.

Just to document what Farah considered going on TV “all the time,” here are all of Farah’s cable news show appearances since George W. Bush was reelected in Nov. 2004:

July 31, 2007: Hannity & Colmes (Fox News)
July 13, 2007: Hannity & Colmes (Fox News)
May 23, 2007: Your World with Neil Cavuto (Fox News)
October 23, 2006: Paula Zahn Now (CNN)

Unless I am missing something or my LexisNexis search was faulty, it seems that Farah was lying when he claimed his pursuit of the Birther conspiracy is the reason he has not appeared on Fox News more regularly. He was not a regular on Fox News, or any other major cable news network, even before he began trumping the Birther conspiracy.

Given this, it is hard to argue that Farah’s support of the Birther conspiracy has harmed his nearly non-existent television career. It is easy to argue that his support of such a theory makes him look really silly.
